3 Minimalistic Resume Templates for Maximum Career Success
3 Minimalistic Resume Templates for Maximum Career Success 3 Minimalistic Resume Templates for Maximum Career Success Visibility: The Minimalistic All-Rounder Are you struggling with choosing the right template for your resume? With our selection of 30+ resume designs and 100.000+ possible variations, finding the right one can take some time. For this reason, we want to introduce you to our resume templates one by one. These are the three newest minimalistic resume templates available to all our Premium users. In , we always strive to provide you with the widest array of functional resume designs for every job position. For this reason, we put a lot of thought into every single one of them. In this article, we want to expose the key concepts behind three of our resume templates- Visibility, Midnight/Midday, and Ladder. We hope that once you understand the creative process behind them, youll be able to make even better resumes than you do now. Visibility: The Minimalistic All-Rounder The main idea behind this resume template is a paradox- to make your content more visible through a clever use of invisible cues. In other words, this resume template aims to do a lot with little, while following our main design principles (more on those below).Recommended jobs? Visibility is an jack-of-all-trades resume template, fitting for any type of position and industry. Whether youâre looking for a job in a corporation or a small company, it will never let you down. Its understated elegance will always stand out without making you look weird or eccentric. Midnight Midday: The Polar Opposites According to most designer guidelines, a white background allows the reader breathe. On the web, this is a good thing because youre constantly bombarded by visual stimuli. However, when youre choosing a resume template, you want to make hiring managers lose their breath. Midnights black background does just that. Midnight catches attention like no other resume template. And then, ehm, blends into the background. In the end, its black background doesnt diminish the readability of the resume. As soon as a hiring manager gets sucked in, it becomes almost imperceptible. Midday is a different beast entirely- the polar opposite of Midnight. For the most formal types of jobs, you want to exhibit a certain decorum and stick to white colour. Still, Midday absorbs the reader by creating a negative space. Notice how the black header accentuates the body of this resume template. It attracts attention by emphasising the emptiness of white space. After all, this is the main strength of all minimalistic resume templates. Recommended jobs? Managerial and executive positions. Midnight and Midnight both exude dominance and unwavering self-confidence. Exactly the qualities a candidate for these jobs would want to communicate. Ladder: The Conservative Overachiever Ladder is one of those minimalistic resume templates that simply get the job done and not much beyond that. It catches a hiring managers attention but never tries to impress- it stays close to the ground no matter what. And for certain types of jobs, its exactly what you want to aim for. For this reason, we recommend sticking to a subdued colour palette. Naturally, youre always welcome to experiment but this resume template works the best when it retains its nearly drab visual. If you really want to play to its strengths, pick a nice serif font to go with it. Recommended jobs? Accounting, Backend Development, Law Enforcement, legal positions, and the like. What are our resume template design principles? Good design always involves a bit of alchemy - that elusive ingredient which turns the whole into more than the sum of its parts. And from our experience, the magic happens when we follow these essential principles: Maximum readability. All fonts for our resume templates are carefully selected to allow for effortless reading. We know that even a great book, when printed in a terrible font, can be impossible to finish. Clarity. Hiring managers have painfully short attention spans. For this reason, our resume templates need to visually guide the eye towards the most important parts. Individuality. You want your resume to stand out. We make sure to provide you with a portfolio of striking designs suitable for every industry. Customisation. This is the most difficult part. We always aim to create resume templates that look good in combination with the widest array of fonts and colours, so you can adjust them to the needs of each job application. Customisation is where YOU come into play. Be careful to keep your minimalistic resume templates minimalistic. Were always careful to equip every resume template with a selection of fitting fonts. Many users simply roll with the default resume preset and forget about the customisation options they have at their disposal. Changing fonts in your resume is a piece of cake. Simply navigate the menu at the left side of your screen and pick the font you like the best. In spite of being easy, you should always be careful not to overdo it. doesnt support Comic Sans but if you try hard enough, you can ruin your resume equally well. In the end, fonts and colours are important. Look at how a resume changes its vibe based on the choice of fonts and colours alone. Keep in mind that in both cases we used the same Midnight template. The first variant gives a formal impression. Blue headings in combination with a serif font make the owner of this resume seem professional, albeit slightly conservative. Its a resume which inspires confidence above else. The second variant looks sleeker and more modern. Yellow headings in combination with a sans-serif font make this resume seem more energetic and unconventional. All of that while maintaining its original rock-solid feel. Minimalistic resume templates built to be used straight out of the box. If you decide to make adjustments to a resume template, make sure you know what youre doing. A well-aimed modification can tailor your resume to the conventions of a particular company and increase your chances of getting hired. If youre not sure, however, you can never go wrong by using a default preset. Our minimalistic resume templates are built to be ready to use straight out of the box and no alterations are usually necessary. Finally, dont forget that making your resume look good is only part of success. In the end, the visual needs to play in unison with content to maximise your chances of getting hired. They Know Youre Old The Second They See Your Resume
They Know Youre Old The Second They See Your Resume They Know Youre Old The Second They See Your Resume INBOX: âJewel, Can you take a look at my detailed resume? Itâs 5 pages long and goes back to 1988, but thereâs some really important experience on there.â In a word, âNo!â Age discrimination is a real thing. It victimizes people every day. However, sometimes candidates victimize themselves. If youâre in corporate America, literally no one will be willing to take a look at a 5-page resume. And itâs important to avoid some other key mistakes that will also have them trashing your resume the very 1st second. Your Resume Is A Dissertation I know this is hard. I know this emotional. I know this is your professional life story. For all those reasons, itâs hard to part with information. But it has to be deleted. It simply must. 20 years is the absolute longest you can present. There is no job ad that even calls for that much experience. You have to shorten the story and deliver the highest impact 1st in order to move through the process. Hereâs the way to think about this: whatâs your ultimate goal? To express your details from 1990, or to get your resume read in the 1st place? In my professional opinion, your 1st and only objective is to make sure the person on the receiving end wants to open your file. They wonât open it if itâs 5 MB â" remember: everybodyâs reading everything on their phones now. Youâre Presenting A Job From 30 Years Ago, Because It Shows Something âDifferentâ About You Once you do get them to open your resume, donât wave the red flag that youâre old. Sometimes that happens in an effort to present different facets of your experience from different times in your professional trajectory. However, sometimes efforts to show experience simply add up to âold.â For example, I recently had an attorney who today is a law firm partner, but started off as a teacher. His teaching job was 38 years ago. Itâs important to adopt the recruiterâs perspective here: what is he really learning about you? Itâs unlikely the person is saying to himself, âOh, look at that, well, he has this teaching experience in his background!â Itâs must more likely the recruiter is thinking, âOK, let me do some quick math here.â Your LinkedIn Profile URL Is Missing This is either because youâre not on LinkedIn (which is a HUGE mistake thatâs killing your job search) or you simply didnât present your LinkedIn profile URL. However, this is critical information that cannot be skipped. When a person receives your resume, before they pick up the phone, they look up your LinkedIn profile. If you cause any barriers to that, theyâre going to move past you to the next person. You canât claim to be tech savvy or comfortable with technology, but have a missing LinkedIn URL. Similarly, you canât claim to be familiar with social media and have a bare bones LinkedIn profile. The millennials youâre competing with are firmly planted on LinkedIn. More importantly, the millennials making the hiring decision are searching LinkedIn to fill open positions. Making sure your resume is set up properly so you can fight ageism is step 1. Step 2 is knowing where to find the right opportunities, and step 3 centers on talking to the right people, so you donât have to deal with your resume just getting sucked into the Internet black hole. Learn how to do this the right way so you donât waste time. We walk you through it in our free presentation, âHow To Get Hired In HALF The Time Without Getting Ghosted Because Of Age Discrimination!â And we give you the exact language to say when the millennial HR manager tells you that youâre overqualified.
